Armed tribesman killed, five wounded by army forces in south Yemen

ADEN, Yemen, July 2 (Xinhua) -- At least one tribesman was killed and five others wounded in a clash between armed tribesmen and the army in Yemen's southern port city of Aden on Saturday , local officials and medics said.

The tribesmen opened heavy fire at a military checkpoint in al- Buriga city. Troops of the 31st Mechanized Brigade guarding some oil companies in the city repelled the attack, killing one tribesman and wounding five others, the official told Xinhua, who asked to remain anonymous.

There were no casualties among the army troops, the official said.
