ADEN, Yemen, May 17 (Xinhua) -- At least two anti-government protesters were injured Tuesday in clashes with security forces during large-scale protests after a power outage in Yemen's southern port city of Aden, witnesses told Xinhua.
The security forces opened fire to disperse hundreds of angry protesters who were protesting against the electricity blackouts which lasted for more than seven hours on Monday night.
One of the two injured was in critical condition, said Rashid Khan, a local eyewitness.
The protesters took to the streets in al-Mualla district and blocked the main roads with cement barricades to condemn the repeated blackouts in Aden, Khan said.
The security forces reinforced their presence around the local government buildings to prevent possible attacks by the anti- government protesters, a local security official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
