ADEN, Yemen, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Yemeni security forces opened fire on hundreds of anti-government protesters Wednesday in Yemen' s southern port city of Aden, injuring three protesters, witnesses told Xinhua.
Three protesters were injured in a random shooting by the security forces who tried to prevent a civil disobedience in al- Mansoura district and to reopen some blocked streets, said Ahmed Najeeb, a local eyewitness.
The anti-government protesters staged rallies to denounce a government crackdown and demand the immediate release of detainees who were arrested in Aden in the past two weeks, Najeeb said.
The security forces fired live bullets at the protesters and chased them in the alleys, he added.
Almost all districts of Aden witnessed Wednesday a full-scale civil disobedience since early morning, in which nearly all government facilities, malls, schools and transport were shot down, according to local residents.
