ADEN, Yemen, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- At least a policeman was killed and three others were injured on Tuesday when an armed group attacked a military convoy in Yemen's southern port city of Aden, a security official said.
The gunmen attacked a military convoy with heavy machine guns on its way back to the security headquarters of the Khor Maksar district, leaving a policeman killed and three others injured, the official told Xinhua, asking to remain anonymous.
"Some of the shooters were wearing military uniforms," he added.
It was not clear till now who stands behind the attack, according to the official.
Meanwhile, another official said unidentified people fired two stun grenades at the local council of Aden in the al-Mualla district, wounding a number of guards around the building.
Local residents said many military armored vehicles and security patrols were deployed in both al-Mualla and Khor Maksar districts following the attacks.
Last month, the southern port city of Aden experienced at least two car bombs, which killed several military leaders and a British maritime expert and injured several others. The Yemeni government accused al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) of masterminding the attacks.
