ADEN, Yemen, June 5 (Xinhua) -- At least two soldiers were seriously injured on Sunday in an armed attack carried out by gunmen believed to be al-Qaida militants targeting a military patrol in Yemen's southern port city of Aden, a local security official told Xinhua.
The armed groups exchanged fire with the army forces at a military checkpoint in the Sheikh Othman district, and two soldiers were seriously injured, the official said, who asked to remain anonymous.
The clashes lasted for an hour between the army forces and the armed men in front of the May 22 Stadium, the official said.
The two sides used heavy machine guns, he added.
