6 al-Qaida militants arrested by police in south Yemen's Aden

ADEN, Yemen, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's security authorities arrested six al-Qaida militants Monday in the southern port city of Aden, the country's Defense Ministry said.
The security forces arrested six of the most dangerous al- Qaida militants, who were specialized in the manufacture of improvised explosive devices, the ministry said.
The ministry added that high explosive devices and batteries for wireless detonators were found in their possessions in an attempt to target vital institutions and hotels in Aden province.
A booby-trapped car hit the army vehicles nearby Aden Free Zone headquarters last Friday, killing at least three soldiers, an officer of Criminal Police told Xinhua.
The officer accused al-Qaida militants of masterminding the attack.
Al-Qaida militants of the Yemen-based wing have been stationed in the eastern outskirts of Aden for about a week, likely to prepare to forcibly enter the city through Al-Alam entrance linking the southeastern province of Abyan.
